The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that for month-on-month comparison, the sales value grew 2 percent.
According to the DOSM, the annual growth was attributed to the wholesale trade sub-sector, which rose 6.2 percent to 63.9 billion ringgit.
Meanwhile, retail trade expanded by 6.3 percent to 60.5 billion ringgit, while motor vehicles increased by 9.7 percent to 18.1 billion ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.21 U.S. dollar).
