A watchman was left stranded at Nguumo Primary School in Yatta Sub-county, as thugs broke into the school and stole goods of an unidentified amount.
The watchman was cornered by the thugs on Tuesday night and beaten, before being gagged. The thugs then proceeded to destroy the transformer at the school and steal items.
Students found the watchman tied up the following morning.
The night guard said he was threatened with "dire consequences" if he dared raise an alarm.
James Gathonja, the school head teacher, said, "We have put ICT lessons to a stop because we feel the security of equipment is at risk. We appeal to the relevant authorities to come in and restore the transformer."
Police are investigating the matter.
