Madira Soccer Assassins' head coach Francis Muhambe is concerned over the lack of bench power in the squad ahead of the Kenya Women's Premier League this weekend.
The tactician said while the squad is fit and ready for the season, they are bound to suffer in case of injuries.
"We are planning to hold discussions with our sponsors to allow us to sign more players in mid-season to strengthen our bench," Muhambe revealed.
He said once they have bench power, they will be good to go. "Our friendly match with Bunyore Starlets was an eye-opener. They have serious bench power because they fielded Team 'B' in the first half and Team 'A' in the second half was Team 'A' while for me I had only 5 substitutes," Muhambe decried.
He further said his charges will need to improve on penalty shootouts which remain a big challenge for them.
"We have been losing many games through penalties but we are currently working on them," he added.
On the same note, Bunyore Starlets head coach Timothy Ondeko urged his defenders to up their game ahead of the KWPL kick-off this weekend.
Ondeko said his defenders have lately exhibited poor defending skills which could prove dangerous going forward. Ondeko said without a proper defence, their future is doomed.
"We play Gaspo Ladies in our KWPL opening match at Stima Sacco in Nairobi and if we don't improve our defence, we are bound to start badly," he noted.
