Luke Shaw has revealed how the Manchester United squad reacted to Manchester City winning the treble last season.
Man City won the Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League last season as they enjoyed a sensational 2022/23 campaign.
The Blues beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final to win their first major European title, sealing the treble in the process.
Pep Guardiola's team pipped Arsenal to the league title and beat their neighbours in the FA Cup final.Man City matched Man United's 1999 achievement, with Shaw admitting it 'hurt a lot' watching their rivals win the treble.
The defender said: "It hurt a lot. A lot. I think all of us as players we felt that, especially for me seeing them come to the England camp. It was really hard to take. There has to be no more motivation than we have anyway, but we can’t accept that.
"We can’t let that happen again, I think we know that."
Shaw added: "I think it’s our time now to start putting a stamp on things and not letting it always be so easy for Man City as in the past it’s looked like that. We, as players, know we can’t accept that anymore."winning the treble when they met in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
Shaw and Co. succumbed to Man City, who ran out 2-1 winners on the day.
As for Man United, they enjoyed an impressive campaign in Erik ten Hag's first season at the club as they secured Champions League qualification and a trophy in the shape of the Carabao Cup.
