Liverpool have rejected an opening verbal bid from the Saudi Pro League to sign Mohamed Salah for Al Ittihad, it has been reported.
Al Ittihad have been increasingly interested in signing Salah as the transfer window has progressed, with the Saudi Arabian giants keen to add marquee players to their squad.
Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho have all joined the club already, but attention has now turned to Salah.
And, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, the Reds quickly turned down an opening approach from the Saudi Pro League, which was submitted on Thursday evening.Ornstein revealed that the verbal bid to sign Salah for Al Ittihad was worth £100 million plus 'substantial add-ons'.But while the offer was rejected by Liverpool, who say Salah is not for sale, the Saudi Pro League still believe they can convince the Reds to sell their star player.
According to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, Al Ittihad's proposal totalled a £150 million fee, and the club are expected to return with another offer worth a staggering £175 million.Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp have both been adamant that Salah is not for sale in this window, while the player's agent took to Twitter earlier this month to reiterate his client's commitment to the Reds.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, Klopp reiterated the club's stance: "The position remains the same, absolutely. That's how it is. Nothing else to say."
Salah signed a new contract at Anfield last summer, committing him to the club until the summer of 2025. According to reports, the deal made him the highest-paid player in Liverpool history.
Al Ittihad, as per CBS Sports, are prepared to make Salah an offer that would make him one of the highest-paid players in world football.
