Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade, a Brazilian journalist has claimed.
The Reds have spent the summer window attempting to bolster their midfield, a challenge not helped by the surprise departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Both players, who would have been expected to remain at Anfield at the beginning of the window, attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, and were subsequently sold by Liverpool.
Prior to those exits, the Reds completed deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Japan international Wataru Endo arrived from Stuttgart last week. They have also been linked with Andre, a 22-year-old Brazil international who has impressed in his home country.
Now, they appear to have taken another step towards signing him - although Manchester United also have interest.According to Brazilian journalist Emmanuel Luiz, Liverpool have already spoken with Andre and his representatives, and have come to an agreement on personal terms.
Speaking to The Redmen TV, Luiz explained: "Manchester United went to Andre's camp to talk to them about a possible negotiation, right now."What they say, the player has personal terms agreed with Liverpool. Personal terms already agreed. That's done.
"The situation was that, today I called some guys that are close to Andre and the player's camp, they said to me, Andre said to Fluminense, 'I want to go to Liverpool. I want to go. I have personal terms agreed'.
But Fluminense say they are not going to sell right now because of Copa Libertadores."The Libertadores ends in November, meaning that if Fluminense remain steadfast in their refusal to sell the midfielder, Liverpool may have to wait until January to seal a deal.
But given Luiz's claims that Andre wants to move to Anfield, it could be up to the player himself to force his current club's hand before the window shuts in 10 days' time.
