AFC Leopards national executive committee have backed the head coach Tom Juma amidst calls from the fans to have him sacked following the difficult round of results since the commencement of the 2023-24 league season
The 12-time FKF premier league champions have only managed two points from three matches and sit 14th in the league table.
The first match of the season saw them come up against FC Talanta where they played to a barren draw.
They faced KCB in their second match where they suffered a 1-0 loss and their defensive midfielder Musa Oundo received his marching orders after a dangerous tackle.
Ingwe yet again played to a barren draw last weekend against Wazito FC leading to the fans' uproar.
The statement released by the club on Wednesday aims to portray its support for the coach and the technical staff.
“The management of the club is pleased to announce its unwavering confidence in the leadership of the technical bench, headed by Mr Tom Juma.
"The club remains committed to achieving its goals and aspirations, and we trust that the technical bench is well equipped to guide us to victory."
The club further expressed its satisfaction with the coach and his ambition for the club and called on all the fans to remain optimistic despite the poor run of results.
“Tom Juma and his team have been working tirelessly to prepare the squad for success this season. Their dedication and expertise are instrumental in achieving our goals. We anticipate excellent results in the matches to come," the statement reads.
We call upon our dedicated fans to remain optimistic and continue supporting the team passionately."
The 46-year-old Juma started his coaching career with the Administration Police in 2012 before joining Muhoroni Youth as an interim coach and later on as the head coach.
He joined Leopards in 2017 as an assistant coach but finished the year as a caretaker after manager Dorian Marin was sacked. He later on acted as an assistant under several coaches.
The departure of Belgian tactician Patrick Aussems in July this year saw Juma take the helm of Ingwe as the new manager.
The coach has had a very illustrious career in the Kenyan football scene playing 38 matches for the national football team from 1995 to 2005.
He was also part of the team that famously upset Algeria 3–1 during 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification, and was also named in Kenya's squad for the 2004 African Cup of Nations tournament.
