AFC Leopards are enjoying an upward trajectory after stretching their unbeaten run to six matches, thanks to their barren draw against FKF Premier League leaders Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium Sunday
According to head coach Patrick Aussems, the team is on the right track after the 12-time league leaders recorded four wins and two draws to pump belief and determination in the blue and white troops.
“We keep going and now the last six games we won four times and drew twice against Gor Mahia who were first and now Nzoia Sugar who have now climbed to the top.
"We are on the right track and if some of you here don’t think that then I think you need to change your thoughts,” Aussems told the reporters in a post-match interview.
He continued: “You know to be honest with you we knew that after the game if we emerge with three points we would be three points behind leaders but now we are six behind and this is still impressive and we are there (to push till the tail end).
After beating Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in their opening game of the season back in November, Leopards started posting poor results, inconsistencies that saw the club honchos call a crisis meeting.
After the meeting with the technical bench, the 12-time league champions have gone on to win four matches and two draws in their last six matches to the satisfaction of Aussems.
However, the Belgian tactician has pointed out that the league is growing much tougher, owing to fixture congestion.
However, the Belgian has pointed out that the league is growing much tougher and full of demand with teams being tasked to play twice in a week.
“The league is so tight and as an evidence we have six to seven teams who are very close in terms of points and it means teams will lose points as well and we are here. We play Talanta on Thursday in a league game and then face Zetech University for the Cup match.
"This means that two matches in a week for at least the next 10 days which has been happening for the last four weeks”, Aussems added
Leopards are on position seven on 22 points, only six behind league leaders Nzoia Sugar.
