Ex-Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is planning to launch legal action against his former club, a new report has claimed.
Bonucci has spent the majority of his professional career at Juve, having two spells at the club between 2010 and 2017, and 2018 to 2023.
The 36-year-old won an incredible 17 trophies with the Italian giants, and played a key role in the Italy side that won Euro 2020 under Roberto Mancini.
His second spell at Juve came to an end in August, with the centre-back terminating his contract and subsequently signing for Bundesliga side Union Berlin.Several outlets reported that Juve told Bonucci he was not part of the club's plans as he entered the final year of his contract, with the defender said to have been told it was for 'technical reasons'. He is said to have been told to train away from the rest of the squad as a result, and was not given a squad number.
But now, the Italy legend is now reportedly seeking legal action.According to leading Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Bonucci has decided to go through with legal action against his former club.It is claimed that his lawyers will proceed with the action on Tuesday, consisting of a 'request for compensation for damages due to the alleged lack of adequate training and preparation conditions available to Bonucci'.
The report adds that his lawyers will claim that Bonucci suffered professional and image damage as a result.
It is claimed that Bonucci sees the action 'not as a personal war, but a fact of legitimate principle', comparing it to other players that 'find themselves dealing with situations similar to those he experienced, without having the possibility to react'.
Furthermore, the report adds that Bonucci will donate any amount resulting from this action to Neuroland, an association that supports families of children hospitalised in the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin, as well as Live Onlus, which donates defibrillators to be allocated to sports clubs and schools, from proceeds of auctions of equipment from high-profile athletes.
