The online auction, which was previously a physical event held in Nairobi and Mombasa, will open up the process to taxpayers nationwide.
Likewise, defaulters will also have an opportunity to take advantage of the tax amnesty, introduced through the Finance Act 2023.
The amnesty factors in all taxpayers with penalties and interests accrued as of December 31, 2022.
From September 1, 2023 to June 20, 2024, taxpayers can settle the principal tax and have all penalties and interest waived.
It will be graced by President William Ruto as well as Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning, Njuguna Ndung’u.
Others are KRA Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura and KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga, among other guests from both the private and public sectors.
Taxpayers will be recognized and awarded for upholding tax compliance in the year 2022.
Taxpayers’ Month also acts as a platform to encourage citizens to be tax-compliant, fund the national budget, and make their contribution towards sustaining the economy.
This year’s Taxpayers’ Month theme is ‘Tunawiri’, which can be translated to ‘let us prosper’.
