Nzoia Sugar are 'on the right track' after stretching their unbeaten run to five matches, thanks to their barren draw against FKF Premier League side Posta Rangers at Sudi Stadium on Saturday, head coach Salim Babu has said.
Babu believes the win gives the Bungoma-based side the determination needed to sustain a title push despite having lost the top spot to Gor Mahia.
“We don’t want to focus on our opponents but our matches, we want to win every match and not look at how Gor or KCB are performing, and we are not under any pressure to keep up,” he said.
The club that barely survived relegation last year has been a surprise package this term, mounting an early push for the title, and coach Salim Babu says they are under no pressure and will not exert much pressure on themselves.
“For us as a team, finishing in top position will be good for us. The boys are ambitious and this season we won’t struggle with fighting relegation, at the same time we don’t want to look over ambitious by discussing the league title,” he explained, “We decided to make Sudi a fortress this season, we don’t want any team to pick points here,” Babu told Citizen Digital after Posta match.
Nzoia who are third on FKF-PL log, have 32 points after 16 league rounds, just two behind leaders Gor Mahia who were held to a one-all-draw against soldiers Ulinzi in Nakuru on Saturday.
