AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems insists his charges should not be written off in the league title race following their 1-0 win over KCB in Sunday's league match.
The Belgian tactician says they have not lost against the top 4 teams – Gor Mahia, Nzoia Sugar, KCB and Tusker - a sign they are capable of winning the title if they concentrate and give their all against teams lower on the table.
“I think I said when the season kicked off that we are fighting for top spots and many laughed but see where we are right now,” said Aussems.
The former Simba Sports Club coach added, “If we face the teams below us the same way we face those above us whom we haven’t lost to, we will achieve our target.”
Ingwe’s weekend win saw them climb to fifth on the log with 29 points after 17 rounds of matches.
As the league takes a break for the FKF Cup over the weekend, Aussems also noted that they will be hunting for the domestic cup; the competition’s earning the ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.
“It is another tournament where we will take it seriously as the league because after five matches you are playing continental tourney.”
The Football Kenya Federation is set to unveil the Cup sponsors on Tuesday before its kick- off over the weekend. The big cats are primed to battle Division One side Zetech Titans in the weekend’s fixtures.
