Eliud Kipchoge has teamed up with Nike to launch a footwear and apparel collection dubbed ‘EK Umoja’ ahead of the Berlin Marathon set for September 24.
The apparel collection consists of eight distinct pieces that sum up the World Champion’s legacy and mindset according to nike.com.
‘Umoja’ means ‘unity’ in Swahili, and the collection pays tribute to the immense impact the champion has had on the running community.
Kipchoge cited the collection as a representation of work done together with the running community.
“Umoja stands for Unity in my native Swahili. This collection represents the work done together as a running family and community,” the double Olympic Marathon champion and World Marathon record holder said.
The products within the collection are designed to be accessible to all runners, embodying this sense of unity.
The collection includes five Nike running footwear silhouettes - the Nike Alphafly 2, Nike Vaporfly 3, Nike Zoom Fly 5, Pegasus 40 and Nike Victory track spike.
The apparel line includes the Nike Windrunner jacket, Nike Rise 365 tee, Nike Stride 7-inch short and a Nike Dri-FIT tee.
Nike said the collection will be available from August 31, 2023, at nike.com and selected retailers around the world.
Every piece within the collection primarily features a palette of white and red, a color scheme that tracks back to Kipchoge’s first World Championship victory in the 5,000 meters in Paris in 2003.
The recurring red color represents Kipchoge’s Kenyan heritage and gives tribute to the Nike Kenya Kit that he wore when he won his first gold medal.
Both footwear and clothing feature the distinctive EK branding along with the champion's most cherished mantra – “No Human is Limited”.
A quote that guides Kipchoge’s optimistic approach to life says: “Let us imagine that we are in a garden. Let us focus on the flowers and not the weeds.”
Kipchoge became the only person to run a marathon in under two hours and is a four-time Olympian.
