The latest Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) Q4 data shows that this grew from Sh315 billion in 2021.
It comes after the number of subscriptions increased to 66.4 million in June 2023 from 64.7 million in a similar period last year.
“In 2022, mobile services generated KSh. 339.4 billion in revenue which is an increase of 7.7 percent from KSh. 315.0 billion recorded in 2021. Similarly, there was increased investment in the mobile sub-sector of 14.0 percent to record KSh.58.8 billion in 2022,” CA data shows.
Out of Sh339.4 billion, a big percentage of Sh131.69 came from other mobile services: Sh104.54 billion (voice), Sh88.24 billion (data), and Sh16.29 billion (SMS).
Safaricom led with revenue generation in all categories of other mobile services (98 percent), voice (77.4 percent), data (76.3%), and SMS (70.4%).
The telco is followed by Airtel Networks, Telkom Kenya, Finserve Ltd., and Jamii Telecommunication.
