KCB RFC took another giant leap in their pursuit to conquer the Kenyan rugby scene as they hammered Menengai Oilers 62-15 in a Kenya Cup duel at the Nakuru Showground over the weekend.
The bankers are now unbeaten in their nine matches this season as they racked up a bonus point for their brilliant display in Nakuru.
Speaking after the match in Nakuru, head coach Curtis Olago said it was the perfect revenge on the Oilers who eliminated them in the playoff semi finals last season.
“This was a revenge match for us against this side considering they beat us 24-19 during the semi-finals last season. We knew what we wanted to do here today, and a win was the only foreseeable result following rigorous training during the week.”
Festus Shihasi made a dream debut for the bankers are he hit a hat-trick of tries to help KCB maintain the fast pace they have set so far in the season with former Shujaa Captain Andrew Amonde rounding off the win
KCB assistant coach Dennis Mwanja said the boys won’t be swayed away by their big win in Nakuru as they look to prepare for their next match against defending champions Kabras Sugar at the den on the next match day.
“It’s not the best game for us this season but it was an important win. We take a game at a time; Oilers was a very interesting match and it’s a big win that gives us a shot in the arm as we head to the business end of the league.”
Defending champions Kabras sugar recorded another routine win against Strathmore Leos at the Kakamega Showground as they kept pace with league leaders KCB.
In-form Kenya Harlequins recorded their sixth consecutive win of the season as they saw off Blak Blad 36-8 to keep alive their hopes of finishing in the play off slots.
