Kakamega Homeboyz FC has axed five players in a restructuring bid ahead of the second round of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League that kicks off later this afternoon.
Among the departing cast includes Christopher Masinza who has been with the team for three seasons.
His contract lapsed on Monday and will join teammates Elli Asieche, Meshack Muyonga, Simon Abuko and Eugene Wethuli on the exit door.
Homeboyz saw the league title slip from their grip in the final weeks of last season, losing only difference after a stirring campaign but have now struggled to achieve those heights.
The teams sits eighth on the league standings, 12 points off the top spot with that form contributing to an overhaul of the technical bench.
The new team has Patrick Odhiambo, Ibrahim Shikanda and Jeffers Odongo, the trio that has managed one win and a draw from their first two matches.
