Jurrien Timber has been forced off injured for Arsenal on his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest.
Timber, who joined the club this summer from Ajax for £34 million, was handed his first league start by Mikel Arteta as the Gunners faced Forest at the Emirates.
He looked bright at the back and got stuck in as he received a caution for a challenge on Brennan Johnson in the first-half.But he seemed to injure himself in the process as he received treatment. Despite the supposed knock, the Dutchman came out for the second-half.However, he lasted just five minutes after the break as he pulled up with a suspected calf injury.
Takehiro Tomiyasu replaced Timber, who hobbled off the pitch and went straight down the tunnel.
Speaking after his team's 2-1 victory over Forest, Arteta said: "The physio and the doctors looked at him and were happy to continue.
"Straight away in the second half, he made a movement and it felt funny. We will have to assess him."
