Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Ryan Gravenberch's proposed deadline day transfer from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool have agreed a £35 million fee with Bayern for the 21-year-old midfielder, which will rise to £40 million with add-ons. He will become the Reds' fourth summer signing should the deal be finalised today.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, Klopp explained: "I'm really sorry to disappoint you. Nothing is really happening yet. All the decisive stuff has to happen.
"It's Friday, right? If anything happens, we can talk about it on Sunday."
"Would it be the only new arrival on deadline day? It's deadline day. I don't want to kill the excitement of the people.
"You never know. But I'm busy today, with other things."Gravenberch has landed in Liverpool to undergo a medical ahead of the move being completed - although the Reds must get the deal done by the time the transfer window shuts tonight.Proceedings were already delayed, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, when the Dutch midfielder's flight was cancelled last night and rescheduled.
Bayern, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a replacement for Gravenberch - and have reportedly targeted Fulham's Joao Palhinha.
According to Bild, the two clubs have reached an agreement over a £55 million deal for the 27-year-old Portuguese midfielder, with Fulham having rejected a £47 million bid from the German giants on Thursday evening. He had trained as normal with Fulham earlier in the day.
Klopp's comments, meanwhile, may encourage Liverpool fans that a deal for Gravenberch may not be the end of the Reds' business in the transfer market. It could be a busy day at Anfield, with incomings and outgoings potentially on the agenda.
