President William Ruto on Wednesday morning met a cohort of about 30 Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) at State House Nairobi.
This being the second time the team has had a sit-down with President Ruto, they committed to working with the government.
President Ruto vowed to support the legislators in executing their mandates and noted that he will be expecting them to lend a helping hand in realizing the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
"You have a right to make choices as Kenya is a democratic country. You are now our members and we will treat you as such," he said on Twitter.
"We will be seeking your support on Bills and regulations on the Housing Fund, Water Purchasing Agreements, among others,"
Some of the members present were Eldas MP Aden Keynan, John Waluke (Sirisia), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Sabina Chege (Nominated), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West) and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) among others.
Also present was Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
This comes hours after a meeting between the Head of State and a section of MPs from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on the same premise, which has since sparked tensions within the party.
ODM, through its Director of Communications Phillip Etale, said the legislators' visit to State House did not come as a surprise because some of them were being monitored in the run-up to the visit.
"The party has been monitoring closely the behind-the-scenes activities involving some of them and today was just the climax," read part of the statement.
The party, however, urged Kenyans to ignore the leaders, accusing them of selfishness and being led by their stomachs at the expense of millions of poor Kenyans.
Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwour popularly known as Jalang’o, who was part of the censured team, clarified that the meeting was development-oriented and not political.
Meanwhile, the Azimio la Umoja coalition has convened a must-attend meeting of their National Assembly members on Thursday, where they threaten to take disciplinary action on disloyal members.
