It's only been a month since he signed for Championship side Swansea City but Josh Ginnelly has already scored one of the greatest goals in their history.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Swans from Scottish Premiership side Hearts, where he scored 22 goals in 89 appearances, has made an instant impact in Wales.
After coming on as a second-half substitute in Tuesday night's EFL first round clash against Northampton, the former Burnley man picked the ball up just inside the opposition half.
With his back to goal, Ginnelly picked the ball up, jinked past two Northampton players before firing a shot from 30 yards into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Max Thompson with no chance between the sticks.
It was a goal of the season-worthy finish from the Aston Villa youth product.Ginnelly, who has penned a three-year deal at Swansea, said in his first interview that he hoped to make an impact at the Championship club.
But even he wouldn't have expected to score such an incredible start to life under Michael Duff.
“Every player wants to score and assist, and I am no different, but I think seeing the ball go in the back of the net for your team to win a game is what everybody wants,” Ginnelly said.
“When you are at this level it is a team game, it is all about trying to get to that next level, and we know what that next level is.
“For me, it is team first. If I can get my goals and whatever then great, but it is about the team first."The 26-year-old was Swansea's first signing under new manager Michael Duff, joining as a free agent.
And he opened up about Duff's influence in his first interview. “I knew the gaffer as a player, and the one thing I think everyone would say about him is that he is a winner,” he added.
“If you go and look at his career, he has won things. He is completely about the team, it’s not about individuals, and I knew I would get that vibe from him because I knew him as a player.
“We had a couple of exchanges (at Burnley) but that was when I was a little boy, and he was a senior professional coming towards the end of his career.
“I was on the end of a few tellings off, but he is a great guy, and I am looking forward to working with him.”
