Jose Mourinho could have a new job lined up already amid rumours that he could be sacked by AS Roma.
Mourinho took over the reins at Roma back in 2021 as a replacement for compatriot Paulo Fonseca.
Under the guidance of Mourinho, Roma went all the way and won the UEFA Europa Conference League during his first season.
During the 22/23 campaign, Mourinho led Roma to the Europa League final but they were beaten by Spanish outfit Sevilla.
This season, Mourinho has endured a tough start as they currently sit 13th in the Serie A table.According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, if Roma are defeated by Cagliari this weekend, Mourinho could be dismissed.
Mourinho’s current contract runs until the end of the 23/24 season but that could be brought forward if the Portuguese fails to improve Roma’s current form.
However, despite the sacking rumours, Mourinho could already have his next job lined up after recently revealing he will manage in Saudi Arabia one day.
According to Di Marzio, via Football Italia, Mourinho said: “I am focused on Roma and I will give my all until the last day I am here. Nobody knows the future, but I am convinced I will coach in Saudi Arabia one day.
“I don’t know when, but I am quite sure it’s something I’ll surely do.”
He continued: “I think it’s the Cristiano Ronaldo effect. He was the first one to go there and change the perspective.
“It is proved by the fact that players going there are not at the end of their careers, but in their best years. Competition is real in Saudi Arabia.”Back in January, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first big-name player to ditch European football for the Saudi Professional League after he signed for Al Nasser on the back of his Manchester United exit.
Since then, the Saudi Arabian clubs have been splashing the cash to lure more big names to their league.
The likes of Karim Benzema, Neymar, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Jordan Henderson have all ditched Europe for the Middle East.
Steven Gerrard became the first big-name manager to manage one of the Saudi Arabian clubs after he took over at Al Ettifaq.
