Okwiri replaces John Tanui, who is the current Ministry of Information and Communication and the Digital Economy Permanent Secretary (PS).
His main task will be to offer Konza Technopolis strategic leadership in order to make it a global technopolis and innovation hub.
He is credited with successfully delivering Konza Phase 1 Horizontal Infrastructure and the establishment of the Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology.
Similarly, the new executive was behind resource mobilization for the construction of the Tier 3 National Data Center.
Others are transforming Kenya’s cloud infrastructure and data center services in addition to securing the 41st International Association of Science Parks (IAPS) 2024 Conference for Konza Technopolis.
Okwiri holds an MBA in procurement and supply chain management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting.
He is also a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS-UK) and the Kenya Institute of Supplies and Management (MKISM).
Besides, John is a certified FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) expert.
