Kenya National Women Boxing Team ‘Hit Squad’ has jetted back in the country early Tuesday, after an awful IBA Women's World Boxing Championship in New Delhi, India.
All the 11 Kenyan boxers failed to qualify for the medal bracket, with only captain Elizabeth Andiego reaching the quarters.
Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) Secretary General David Munuhe who is also Kenya's assistant coach, says there were positives to pick from the trip.
“Although we didn't get good results, we learnt a lot in India. Our boxers had the opportunity to train with other prominent boxers and learnt a lot from them, which will be instrumental in future bouts. The whole team is back, players and coaches," observed Munuhe.
Africa was represented by 41 boxers from 13 countries, but won only two medals through Moroccans Khadija Mardi who bagged gold, and Yasmine Mouttaki who settled for bronze.
