Mavoko Constituency Member of Parliament Makau Patrick, is among thirty individuals summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to shed more light into the East African Portland Cement Land that has seen homeowners lose their properties.

The Directorate has also established a special desk at the Athi River Police Station to collect relevant information and evidence that will aid in the investigations.

“We are aware of the recent ruling by the High Court regarding East African Portland Cement, confirming the company’s ownership of land LR No.10424,” said Ireri Kamwende for DCI adding that “There is credible information indicating that some of the individuals being evicted from the land in question are innocent buyers who fell victim to fraudsters.”

DCI said, it will work round the clock, recording statements from all aggrieved Kenyans who may have been swindled out of their money. The DCI has also summoned officials of the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society, Former OCPDs, Deputy County Commissioners, Registrar of Lands and the area chief.

The demolitions on the Athi River based 4,298 acres of land, LR N0. 10424, began after Lady Justice Nyukuri, sitting at Machakos Environment and Land Court declared East African Portland Cement PLC the legitimate owner of the disputed land.

Bulldozers descended on properties in the area since Friday last week, forcing families to spend nights in the cold.
