Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has vowed to intensify the war against the spiking cases of drug abuse and insecurity in Kiambu County.
Speaking during the commissioning on Cianda division in Kiambaa on Wednesday, CS Kindiki assured leaders present that he will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that security has been fostered in the region.
He censured those involved in brewing and distributing illicit alcohol in the area, warning that he will not condone illegal activities to be conducted in the region at the expense of future generations.
"There are three main security threats; terrorism, banditry and illicit alcohol, drugs and substance abuse. Those are the greatest threats to our national security," he said.
"Unless we do something and we do it quickly we are facing a generational crisis. We are not sure of the future. The same way we shall deal with bandits is the same way we shall fight illicit brew."
The Interior CS further noted that he will soon beef up security in the region by deploying more police officers to the county.
He added that he will also facilitate the construction of a new police station and have it equipped with brand-new vehicles.
"As the national government, we have heard your request of curbing insecurity in the area. And because of that, I will build the police station that has been requested. I will also provide a police car," he said.
"There is also the request to have the number of police officers increased here and I want to assure you that we have enough police officers. A few weeks ago you saw me in Kiganjo and Embakasi together with President William Ruto. We saw more than 6,000 officers pass out among them administration police and also GSU."
CS Kindiki affirmed that the officers, who are currently on a short recess, will be deployed from March 1.
