The figure was compared to 64.61 billion U.S. dollars a year earlier.
According to the ministry, overall imports in September stood at 68.75 billion U.S. dollars, compared to 79.64 billion U.S. dollars in September last year.
The ministry said India’s overall exports in April-September saw a decrease of 2.97 percent year on year.
Overall imports in April-September recorded a fall of 10.14 percent from a year earlier, the ministry said.
As per the ministry, India’s trade deficit has shown a considerable decline in April-September.
Overall trade deficit for April-September 2023 is estimated at 39.91 billion U.S. dollars as compared to the deficit of 75.34 billion U.S. dollars during April-September 2022, registering a decline of 47.03 percent, it said.
