National Super League leaders Shabana FC continued with their fine run defeating Coastal heroes 1-0 in a league match played Monday afternoon at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.
The lone goal was scored by Peter Ogechi in 50th minute.
Coastal Heroes started the match in top gear, striker Samson Karisa and Joshua Oyoo missing double open chances in fourth and fifth minutes respectively when they should have done better but Shabana keeper Michael Matasio was equal to the task.
Shabana responded immediately in the 10th minute, midfielder Justin Omwando firing a strong 40-yard shot which was comfortably handled by Heroes goalkeeper Said Dhadho.
Ten minutes later, Shabana FC were back hunting in Heroes territory, this time strikers Isaac Otieno and Brian Magare missing clear chances to get their first goal of the match.
Heroes responded with strikes from Lucky Kaigu and Hamisi Mwinyi but all attempts went wide.
The visitors come back from halftime ruthlessly hunting to get a goal and in 50th minute Vincent Nyabuto shot was deflected wide by Abdulamin Mwaranjira for an unsuccessful corner.
