A compilation of Ryan Gravenberch’s performance in his first start for Liverpool has gone viral.
21-year-old Gravenberch joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported £38.5 million.
After a short cameo against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, the Dutchman was handed his first start against LASK in the Europa League by manager Jurgen Klopp.Liverpool fell behind after Florian Flecker’s stunning strike in the 14th minute. In the second half, goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah sealed a 3-1 comeback win.
Gravenberch played 74 minutes in what was a promising full debut for his new club.
The former Bayern man showed some neat touches and passes, whilst also showing his strength by holding off his opponents when dribbling with the ball.
Gravenberch provided his first assist after he crossed the ball into the box for Diaz to score in the 63rd minute.
Eventually, he was forced off after picking up what looked like an injury.
However, those fears have been eased by reports that he had to be brought off after suffering from cramps.Despite this only being his first-ever start for Liverpool, it is clear that he has all the tools to be a perfect fit in Klopp’s midfield.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, Gravenberch said: “We didn't start so well, but we had the mentality and we turned it around again, so I was very happy with the game.“For myself, it was good but also sloppy sometimes, so I have to work on that and the rest was OK.”Talking about his assist, the midfielder said: “I saw the space behind and I saw Harvey [Elliott] got the ball and he played it to me, and I saw Lucho in the corner, so it was a nice cross and he finished it well.”
Liverpool will be back in Premier League action this weekend as they host West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
