Fans think Harry Wilson scored the best penalty ever seen during Fulham’s Carabao Cup triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.
On Tuesday night, Fulham welcomed London rivals Spurs to Craven Cottage as they battled for a place in the third round of the League Cup.
The home side made the better start and took the lead after an own goal by Spurs’ summer signing Micky Van de Ven.
In the second half, Spurs grew into the match and found their equaliser in the 56th minute thanks to Richarlison.As the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, the match went to a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
During a tense shootout, Fulham winger Wilson stepped up top take the third penalty.
The Welshman arrowed the ball into the roof of the net, hitting the underside of the bar in the process.
Fans were quick to react on social media.
One said: “Harry Wilson just scored the best penno I think I’ve ever seen.”
Another tweeted: “Harry Wilson's penalty is the best penalty you will see. That is outrageous.”A third fan added: “That Harry Wilson penalty might be the best I’ve ever seen.”
Someone else wrote: “Harry Wilson’s pen, my god.”
Whilst a fifth commented: “hat pen from Harry Wilson is one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
After the match, Fulham manager Marco Silva said, as per South London Press: “The best team won. What’s clear is from the first minute we were on the front foot. That was the plan and the players executed it.“We pressed them really high and didn’t let them set. That was one of the keys for us throughout the game to give us the confidence we needed.”
He added: “During the 97 minutes we were the team with more chances to score, we played better and it (the win) was deserved.”
