Harry Maguire appeared to aim a cheeky dig at Scotland following England's big 3-1 victory at Hampden Park.
The Manchester United defender made a substitute appearance in England's win over Scotland on Tuesday.
He entered the fray at the break, replacing Marc Guehi - with the player scoring an own goal to bring Scotland back into the game.
But Jude Bellingham, who produced a sensational outing in the middle of the park, set up Harry Kane to restore England's two-goal lead.
Maguire, who started his national team's Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine last Saturday, got minutes under his belt amid the lack of game time at Man United.
He enjoyed his time away with the England camp as he posted a defiant message on social media.In doing so, he appeared to aim a swipe at Scotland, seemingly referencing England supporters' taunt against their rivals: "Scotland get battered everywhere they go."
On Instagram, he wrote: "Enjoyable camp with the lads - always a pleasure representing my country. Everywhere they goooo."
Maguire was subjected to crowd abuse during his appearance as Scotland fans jeered his every touch.
Speaking after the win, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate hit out at the critics in a furious rant.
"He's just come out and spoken to the media, which I think shows the resilience and the character of him," he said."We're now in a situation where, because of people in our own country, the opposition think they can have fun with him. What's that about?
"He's been an incredible player for England in one of the most successful teams we've had - critical for what we've been doing.
"We allow him to be open to that? It's a joke; an absolute joke. It makes me livid."He added: "Thankfully he's got the support of the dressing room and the people behind him. I thought the England fans in the stadium tonight were absolutely brilliant.
"I've no problem with the Scotland fans - they're having fun. But what stirs that up is people in our own country. Other players will think: 'Is that what awaits us?'
"Great credit to him that he managed to show the composure with the ball, keep the ball and put that moment behind him."
