Harry Kane has confirmed his leaving from Tottenham and signing for Bayern Munich after almost 20 years in the club.
In a video through his social media on Saturday, Kane said he felt it was the time to leave as he didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unresolved future talks.
"I wanted to be the first to tell you Tottenham fans that I’ll be leaving the club today. Obviously a lot of emotions are going through me right now, sad to be leaving the club I have spent nearly 20 years of my life at, from when I was an 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man now," he said.
He however said it was important for the new manager and the players to concentrate on trying to get Tottenham back to the top of the league.
Kane wished the Spurs good luck as they fight for trophies.
"I’ll be watching from a fan point of view now and I hope the team can be successful," he said.
Kane said he had experienced a lot of special memories while in the club and he was going to cherish them forever.
He also thanked all his teammates, coaches, managers and every single staff member of the club.
"I’ve built special relationships with a lot of people and most importantly a thank you to the Tottenham fans. From the moment I started playing, I’ve been one of your own and given everything that I possibly could to make you proud," Kane said.
Kane won numerous individual awards including three Premier League Golden Boots and the PFA Young Player of the Year award during his time with the Spurs.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that Kane's exit was imminent.
The striker had just one year left on his contract, and would have been able to leave on a free next summer unless he signed fresh terms in North London.
"It is best Kane speaks for himself in terms of the decision but no doubt he is one of the greats of this football club and that never changes," he said.
Kane who will now wear the number 9 T-shirt at his new club, has signed a four-year contract and joins the Bundesliga champions in a deal worth a reported €86 million.
