When asked about the prospect of joining United this summer, Kane told the press: "Obviously there were talks with different clubs in the summer.
"But Bayern was a club I was really interested in. Once they came in there weren't many other options."And now, fortunately, I'm here. Of course, Manchester is a big club. But now my focus is on here and I’m very happy"
The Mail Online claimed on Tuesday that Kane would have waited until next summer for United had he been given assurances over a move to Old Trafford.
The England captain, who joined Bayern from Tottenham in a deal worth up to £100million, allegedly had his heart set on United.He would have allegedly seen out the final 12 months of his contract at Spurs before signing for Erik ten Hag’s side as a free agent next year if he knew the deal was guaranteed to go ahead.
Kane was said to be Ten Hag's top target this summer, but United could not afford the player's transfer fee and wages.
They abandoned their pursuit of the 30-year-old, instead opting for the younger and cheaper Rasmus Hojlund. Indeed, as per the Mail report United's move for Hojlund convinced Kane that his hopes of becoming a United player were over.
A week after Hojlund secured his £72million deal to United, Kane completed his move to Bayern.
