Azimio Chief Raila Odinga has refuted claims that the handshake between him and Former President Uhuru Kenyatta brought problems to the government.
Raila who was speaking on Thursday at the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting said in the handshake with Uhuru, ODM did not have a stake in government.
"This idea that handshake is what caused problems in that government is hogwash. All ODM members here know that we did not participate in that government," Raila said.
Raila said his party did not appoint even a single minister during the handshake.
"We did not appoint a permanent secretary or a head of any parastatal. That government remained exactly as it was and it was between Uhuru's side and Ruto's side," Raila said.
Raila said people who were in government wanted to take credit for the good things that happened in Uhuru's regime but blame everything that went wrong on the former President.
"Nobody should come and say that we force people into trouble so that we will need a handshake," Raila said.
For a long while, President William Ruto had claimed that the handshake between Uhuru and Raila shortly after the 2017 general elections was what caused trouble in the Jubilee government.
