Auctioneers have put the Gor Mahia FC bus on the market after Wellington Ochieng’ successfully petitioned the commercial court to compel the club to pay off his wages.

The defender sued his former employers at the Milimani Law Courts, claiming unpaid salaries and sign-on fees exceeding KSh. 1 million.

Ochieng’s lawyer Rosemary Monyangi says they moved to court after the club failed to honour the agreement.

"He (Ochieng) approached me and said the team had ended his contract without paying him. He informed me that the club had refused to provide the medical attention he required.

"We pursued the case in court, and we did so until the court ordered us to auction the bus since they had refused to pay the player as ordered. We chose to follow due process, which is why we took that course of action. The court orders have satisfied us,” said Monyangi.

The sale will be conducted by Charlton Auctioneers in accordance with a media advertisement. The aforementioned automobile, with the license plate KBP 040V, will be sold in as-is condition.

The club is now serving a suspension issued by FIFA for failing to timely pay its players, and they are not permitted to sign new players.

Ochieng’ represented Gor Mahia from 2016 to 2018.
