Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are finally heaving a sigh of relief after a far-reaching transfer ban imposed by Fifa was lifted on Thursday.
K'Ogalo's secretary general, Sam Ocholla, confirmed the development in an exclusive interview, adding that they would unveil their full squad on Friday.
Gor was dealt a heavy blow last month following their shock ejection from the CAF Champions League competition after failing to offset dues owed to ex-players Jules Ulimwengu, Sando Yangayay, and Adama Keita.
"The ban was lifted after we paid all monies owed to the players two days ago and we shall be unveiling our team on Friday," Ocholla said.
Ocholla also said they would contest the Sports Disputes Tribunal verdict earlier in the week, ordering Gor Mahia to pay their former player Clifton Miheso Sh2,225,000 for breach of contract.
The winger, who featured for Gor between 2019 and 2021, moved to court in February demanding immediate payment.
"As you are aware, one of our former players Clifton Miheso also moved to the SDT to demand unpaid dues but we will be appealing in due course.
"We strongly feel the entire process was not done in the right way and we hope the SDT will revoke the decision," Ocholla said.
Ocholla alleged an elaborate scheme by an official of the Football Kenya Federation to frustrate the club, adding that all their efforts to bolster the squad for the new season had been rocked by malice.
"There are people who are intentionally frustrating our efforts to assemble a competitive team. We had approached a goalkeeper in one of the Kenyan Premier League clubs and even paid his sign-on fee but an official of the federation allegedly threatened to drop him from the national team if he dared joined Gor Mahia," Ocholla claimed.
Ocholla threatened to move to the corridors of justice in a frantic bid for legal action against the goalkeeper for breaching his contract with the club.
"We are planning to take legal action against the player if he goes ahead and features for the club in the new season."
Ocholla claimed the people behind their woes were unhappy they had won the league.
"All these frustrations targeting Gor Mahia began immediately after one of our officials expressed interest in vying for the FKF presidency in the upcoming elections. We feel the club is being unfairly targeted as a result," he noted.
Ocholla said further frustrations stemmed from players who were using Gor's name to up their stakes in their current clubs.
"Then we also have a group of players who are using Gor to negotiate for better salaries at their clubs. They have not shown any serious commitment to join the club."
Kevin Omondi, Rooney Onyango, Alvin Ochieng, Kennedy Onyango, Kevin Juma, and Lawrence Juma have been training with K'Ogalo while awaiting clearance from Fifa.
