Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has directed county commissioners to respect elected leaders and find a working formula with them.
The DP said that leaders across the board must be respected regardless of political affiliations.
Gachagua was speaking at the closure ceremony of the four-day post-election conference at Pride Inn Hotel in Mombasa on Friday.
" Any leader irrespective of the party must be given due respect," he said.
Gachagua said if for any reason a commissioner can't work together with an elected leader, they ought to give way as the elected leader cannot be transferred.
Gachagua reminded the leaders to hold President William Ruto's administration accountable.
"President Ruto and I want you to people to oversight us and hold us to account, we want to be oversighted. You are paid to do that and do it fearlessly," he said.
" I want to assure you the Ruto administration is different from the previous one, none of you will ever be arrested by anybody for holding us to account."
He said for democracy to thrive in the country, institutions must be left to run independently.
Gachagua assured the legislators that there will be no interference with their work.
