Here are four Jadon Sancho replacements Manchester United could sign for free in January.
Sancho has been embroiled in a public fall-out with manager Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman was critical of the winger’s performances in training.
Sancho subsequently hit back on social media, insisting he had conducted himself “very well” in training and had been a “scapegoat” for a long time at the club.
United have since confirmed that Sancho will train away from the first-team group “pending resolution of a squad discipline issue”.
While Sancho’s days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered, Football Insider claimed it would take a “huge fee” for United to sanction a permanent move for the England international in January. Indeed, a loan move is reportedly the most viable route to an exit in the winter window.
Should Sancho depart United in January on loan, here are four wingers who could replace the attacker free of charge. As a preface, they may not be the most exciting names, but they are all cheap.
Eden Hazard
The Belgian engraved his name in Premier League legend after an electric seven-year spell at Chelsea.
However, Hazard subsequently moved to Real Madrid, where a spate of injuries and a waning of powers saw the 32-year-old struggle to have any impact on Los Blancos.
Hazard has been a free agent since leaving Real this summer, and there have even been rumours of a retirement. Could a stunning move to United could kickstart his career?Anwar El-Ghazi
The former Aston Villa player has been linked with an Old Trafford move since leaving PSV by mutual consent after just one season.
The Dutch international, who also made two appearances for Everton on loan, could prove a shrewd piece of business given his Premier League experience.
Papu GomezGomez made his name at Atalanta in Italy before moving to Europa League experts Sevilla.
However, the Argentinian’s contract was terminated there at the start of last season leaving him as a free agent.
A return to the Serie A has been deemed unlikely, while his versatility could potentially serve United very well.
Andre Ayew
Ayew left Nottingham Forest in the summer after just one year with the club.
The Ghana captain has plenty of Premier League experience having also featured for Swansea and West Ham.
Should United be interested in the 33-year-old they would need to act quickly, with the wide-man already closing in on a move to Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk
