Versatile Ugandan forward Peter Lwasa has officially confirmed his departure from Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
Lwasa said he was proud of what he had achieved with the club, noting that they put in a lot of effort to steer K'Ogalo to their 20th title.
"I have this Thursday officially parted ways with Gor Mahia FC. I want to extend a big thanks to everyone at K'Ogalo for putting in such hard work on every task we have had," Lwasa said.
"It hasn’t been easy, but I think we reached new heights on everything! I’m proud of each one of you for never giving up and supporting one another," Lwasa remarked.
He lavished praise on K'Ogalo's huge fanbase for roaring the squad in the preceding season.
"To the fans, I can't find good words to express my appreciation for the support you gave the team. However, big up buddies! I wish the club the best ahead. Have a great time," he concluded.
Lwasa's announcement comes barely a month after he made a similar statement that indicated he had severed ties with the record Kenyan champions.
While announcing his departure early in July, Lwasa bemoaned the lack of commitment by his employers to renewing his contract.
"My two-year contract has expired but the club doesn't appear keen on initiating any talks for a possible renewal. I am exploring other options," Lwasa said.
The Ugandan forward made a maiden KPL appearance in August 2019 when he penned a deal to ply trade for Sofapaka.
Five months later, he joined the Kariobangi Sharks and lasted there for 21 months before landing a role with Gor.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia secretary general Sam Ocholla has disclosed plans to revamp the squad ahead of the new Kenyan Premier League season. "We have already identified six players whom we are keen to sign ahead of the new season. We shall, however, reveal their names at the appropriate time," Ocholla said.
"We also plan to send eight of our current players on loan to various clubs. They are good players with a bright future and we wouldn't want to lose them. But we feel they need some time to develop before we allow them back into the team," Ocholla said.
In an earlier interview, head coach Jonathan McKinstry also expressed a desire to bolster his lineup for a successful Caf Champions League campaign.
