Former National Super League runners-up Fortune Sacco have rubbished claims of being disbanded by terming them as malicious and unfounded.

The club said it will stay patient after they filed an appeal with the Sports Disputes Tribunal following Football Kenya Federation’s decision to lock them out of the top-flight league.

In a statement, club secretary Julius Kariuki has dismissed the claims published by one of the local media outlets by reiterating the outfit’s resolve to wait for the ruling on their appeal.

“We would like to inform our stakeholders, supporters, fans, and the members of the public that the article is misleading, fake, and malicious and intends to paint the Fortune Sacco Football Club in a bad light,” read the statement in part.

Kariuki further reassured the club’s faithful that it intends to pursue all avenues as they seek the nod to participate in the top-tier league.

“The management of Fortune Sacco Football Club would like to assure our stakeholders, supporters, fans, and the members of the public that the Club is intact and any official communication regarding the affairs of the Club will be made through the Official Channels of the Club.

“Further, we are cognizant of pending legal matters concerning the club in court, and we are looking forward to resuming football activities once the courts have fully concluded the matter,” he added.

Sacco’s (Fortune) promotion to the top-tier league has been caught in the eye of the storm after local soccer governing body FKF challenged the legality of the league patronized by the FKF Transitional Committee while FIFA suspended Kenya over government interference between February 24th and November 28th, 2022.

On December 2022, the SDT quashed the FKF National Executive Committee's decision to nullify the 2021/22 season, citing a lack of “legal foundation.”

Fortune Sacco was among five clubs that took FKF to court over its decision to cancel their promotion to the higher leagues, including APS Bomet, who won the National Super League (NSL) last season.
