Former Arsenal wonderkid Stephy Mavididi is reportedly set to complete a transfer to Championship side Leicester - just months after breaking an English record.
Mavididi, who graduated through the Gunners' Hale End academy in 2016, had his first taste of English football through loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Preston North End.
He scored his first professional goal during his second spell at Charlton in January 2018, and moved on to Serie A giants Juventus the following summer.
Mavididi became the first English player to represent the Italian club in 27 years when he made his debut appearance in 2019 - but that was to be the only time he featured for the senior side.
A loan spell at French side Dijon would follow, before Mavididi signed a permanent deal with Montpellier in 2020.While at the club, he set a new record as the English player with the most Ligue 1 appearances in French football history, overtaking Chris Waddle.
But his time in France looks set to come to an end.
Arsenal academy graduate set for move
According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Arsenal starlet is closing in on a move to Championship side Leicester, with Enzo Maresca in the process of rebuilding his squad following a raft of summer departures.Romano tweeted: "Leicester hope to get Stephy Mavididi deal done today - negotiations very advanced.
"Personal terms on the verge of being agreed, clubs in direct contact to make it happen."The reported fee that the Foxes will pay is around £6-8 million, and Mavididi is set to join Conor Coady, Harry Winks and Callum Doyle in making the move to the King Power Stadium this summer.
Leicester will hope to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and despite the loss of James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu, amongst others, they are in a strong position to achieve just that.
