Five people have been arrested on allegations of selling liquefied petroleum gas cylinders illegally in Nairobi and Kiambu counties.
The five were arrested during a joint crackdown conducted by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) officers and Police Officers in the two counties between January 13 and January 16.
“In Kiambu County, the plant owner of Crescent Energy Limited was arrested and will be charged for trading filled gas cylinders without seals and dealing in cylinders without prior brand owners’ written consent,” EPRA said in a press statement.
Four employees of a gas retail shop in Embakasi were also arrested for selling filled cylinders belonging to other brands without written consent from the owners. During the operation, 176 assorted LPG cylinders were discovered.
