ESPN streaming service launches with NFL and WWE exclusives
Sports fans have a new way to watch live games as the ESPN streaming service officially launches on August 21, 2025. Priced at $29.99 per month, the service offers direct access to ESPN’s linear channels, thousands of live events, and exclusive deals with major sports leagues. This long-awaited platform is separate from ESPN Plus, giving viewers an all-in-one destination for NFL games, college football, tennis tournaments, and more without the need for a traditional cable subscription.
ESPN streaming service brings live sports to one platform
The ESPN streaming service will feature over 47,000 live sporting events each year, plus on-demand replays and original shows. Subscribers will enjoy coverage from channels like ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, and ACN. Sports fans can catch everything from the NFL preseason to the US Open and WNBA Playoffs. The launch also coincides with an upgraded ESPN app that includes multiview streaming, live stats, fantasy sports integration, and personalized recommendations.
NFL and WWE deals make ESPN streaming service more valuable
A key highlight of the launch is ESPN’s new partnership with the NFL. The network now holds a 10 percent stake in the NFL Network and gains rights to select out-of-market preseason games in 2025 and 2026. Starting in 2026, ESPN, along with Disney Plus and Hulu, will also stream the NFL Draft. Additionally, a five-year agreement with WWE brings exclusive coverage of iconic wrestling events, including WrestleMania and SummerSlam, making the ESPN streaming service a go-to hub for both football and wrestling fans.
ESPN streaming service faces growing competition
While ESPN’s new service is a major step in the streaming wars, competition is fierce. Comcast, DirecTV, and Fox have all rolled out sports-focused streaming platforms in 2025. Fox Sports’ upcoming service launches on the same day for $19.99 per month, giving fans more options than ever. ESPN hopes to stand out with its broad event lineup, premium sports content, and bundle options with Disney Plus and Hulu. Current pay TV subscribers with ESPN access can use the new streaming service for free, making the transition easier for loyal viewers.
