Manchester United have signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan, but the 27-year-old's arrival could spell the end of the road for his teammate.
Onana has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford and will become the club's first-choice goalkeeper, replacing David de Gea in the sticks, who left United at the end of last month when his contract expired.
The Cameroon international only joined Inter last summer, joining the Serie A club on a free transfer from Ajax, where he made 214 appearances.
Sky Sports claim United have now agreed to pay Inter an initial fee of €51m (£43.8m) for Onana, plus €4m (£3.4m) in potential add-ons depending on individual and club performance.However, his signing means Matej Kovar short stint as first-choice goalkeeper is up, after he hugely impressed during pre-season friendlies against Leeds and Lyon, keeping two clean sheets.Man Utd make Matej Kovar transfer decision
According to Simon Stone of the BBC, United expected Kovar to go out on loan, with the Czech Republic keeper deemed surplus to requirements.
The writing was on the wall after he was not selected for the latest leg of United's pre-season tour. However, his temporary departure could leave United scarce between the sticks, with Dean Henderson also expected to leave the club this summer on a permanent deal to Nottingham Forest.
That would leave 37-year-old Tom Heaton as the only senior goalkeeper left at the club, unless Ten Hag is able to get a deal over the line for Urawa Reds keeper Zion Suzuki.
