Erik ten Hag ruthlessly took off one of Manchester United’s youngsters after just 36 minutes during their friendly clash against Borussia Dortmund.
After the 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid last time out, United were hoping to round off their pre-season tour of the United States with a win against Dortmund.
In front of a packed crowd at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, it was Dortmund who came out 3-2 winners thanks to a brace from Donyell Malen and a goal from Youssoufa Moukoko.Diogo Dalot and Antony were on the scoresheet for the Old Trafford club.
During the match, Ten Hag showed his ruthlessness as he took off youngster Omari Forson after just 36 minutes.
Forson was in the thick of the action when he tried to tackle Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi but then appeared to kick out at Julian Ryerson.
On the back of the incident, both Ryerson and Adeyemi reacted and Forson went head to head with the latter.Forson also swung an arm as both he and Adeyemi went into the referee’s book.
On the touchline, Ten Hag was visibly furious as he instantly decided to send on Antony to replace Forson.
As he was coming off, Ten Hag gave the 19-year-old a stern talking to.
The youngster was visibly gutted as he came off the pitch and was consoled by senior players such as Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay.After the match, Ten Hag said: “When there is a VAR, he gets sent off.
“He played a good game and the opponent gets annoyed with him, so that is a learning curve but don't take it into your own hands.”
He added: “You can't be the judge, you have to play football, you have to beat your opponent, you have to net and that is the best way to react.”
