Equity Bank thrashed National Youth Service 49-21 in a Kenya Handball Federation league clash at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
The newly-formed bankers' side, who now have four straight wins, took a strong 22-8 lead at the breather.
“The boys played really well. Everything we are doing is sinking in and it shows we are heading to where we are supposed to be,” said coach Peter Mwathi.
“We have been to the gym for the last few days, working more on body conditioning. Once our bodies start to show, the results will be clear.”
Radzi Stower struck 10 goals to lead the rout. Brian Murangiri added nine for the bankers. NYS were led by Mathew Ngima who shot six goals.
Equity Bank made it a perfect weekend by hitting Rangers 39-26 after a 20-9 lead at the break. Rashid Ingwela scored seven goals.
Rangers had a 24-18 half-time margin and went on to blank Wakanda 38-29. Abel Kemei scored 11 goals, Yusuf Pwoka hit nine and Alexander Juma had eight.
Winless Wakanda, who are showing progress though, saw Martin Barasa tally eight goals, Mbaraka Ismael seven and Samson Wanyonyi five.
Martha Lavenda grabbed 14 goals to lead Ulinzi Sharks to a 52-19 drubbing of Daystar University. The soldiers led 24-8 at half time.
Medina Kerubo also had eight while Sarah Wasike and Caren Lutengeya had six each. Meldone Akoth managed the students’ nine.
In other matches, National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) beat Amazon 41-20. They led 21-11 with Nancy Muyuka scoring 10 goals and Joan Akinyi eight.
“We had to be neat with our plans. We are happy to have bagged the two points which really matters in our quest for the league title. We now focus to the next game,” said coach Bryan Mathews.
Ulinzi shot down Wakanda 45-22 as Kevin Imo shot seven goals and Abel Weru eight. Engineers suffered a 35-30 defeat at the hands of Rangers, who had nine goals from Abel Kemei.
In their other game, Wakanda went down 34-32 to Desert Scorpions. Martin Orera managed 13 goals and Wilson Gathimba seven.
