England players are set to receive huge payments should they beat Spain in Sunday’s World Cup final.
The Lionesses made history on Wednesday by reaching their first Women’s World Cup final after beating host nation Australia 3-1 in Sydney.
England drew first blood as Ella Toone curled home a superb effort in the first half.
However, the Matildas equalised through their talismanic captain Sam Kerr, who hammered home a sensational effort from some 25 yards.Sarina Wiegman’s side reclaimed the lead eight minutes later through Lauren Hemp before Alessia Russo made sure of England’s spot in Sunday’s showpiece final against Spain.
The Lionesses, who won last year’s European Championship, have become the first England senior team to make a World Cup final since the men’s 1966 triumph.
And should they go one further and win the tournament, England’s squad could be set for huge bonuses.
As per TalkSPORT, FIFA will grant the Lionesses £213,000 each should they win Sunday’s final.England players had been guaranteed to earn £24,000 even if they had been knocked out at the group stages.
The prize money was raised to £47,000 after Wiegman’s team qualified for the last-16, and £70,000 for making the last eight.
England players’ semi-final place has seen them earn £128,000, however, they are set to claim a further £85,000 each by winning the World Cup.England manager Sarina Wiegman was almost speechless after her side qualified for the final, telling BBC Sport: "We achieved the final! It's unbelievable, it feels like we won [the tournament] which we didn't, we just won this game - in an incredible stadium, an away game, the way we played - it was a hard game, but we found a way to win again.
"Australia have had an incredible tournament, they grew into the tournament. They had some setbacks, they had to win their last group-stage game and then they got better and better.
"I just said to [assistant manager] Arjan, having the chance as a coach or a player to make it to two finals is really special. I never take anything for granted, but it's like I'm living in a fairytale or something."
