Music maestro Eltezzy artiste (Planet Gim) started this year with a bang after signing a lucrative deal and he is optimistic that 2023 will be big for him.
Riding the airwaves with his single ‘Ibambe’, Eltezzy was born and bred in Nairobi. Growing up in South C which was a homeground for most popular artistes in Kenya, he got to rub shoulders with the likes of other talented artistes such as the late Esir, Krupt, Redsan and Nameless among many others and with his innate gift he was introduced to a producer and at the age of 11 years he managed to record his debut single ‘Cheki Dem’ which was banger and eventually earned him male artistes of the year at the Chaguo la Teeniez Awards.
Although he was born in Nairobi, Eltezzy has also borne the brunt of the unforgiving Kanairo streets.
In 2018, Eltezzy was up and down doing his business as usual and had landed from Taita. “I had completed college when I came across advertisements of jobs in Dubai,” he narrates.
The ambitious Eltezzy was enticed by the humongous salary that was promised after landing the job. “The deal looked too good and I figured I would make such a kill.”
He decidedly picked up his phone and dialled the number on the poster and was subsequently invited to a meeting to decide his fitness for the job.
“I did the interview and was told I had passed, they heaped praises on me how I had perfectly aced the interview and soon afterwards I was told I needed to part with 80K for passport, medical checkups and visa which I quickly fundraised from relatives.”
The elated Eltezzy had raised the amount which he paid and went home a happy man.”
Let us just cut the story short. Up to today, 5 years later, he has never stepped in Dubai.
“After paying the cash I went to a follow up the following Monday, to my shock found the office vacant,” he says. From that day he decided to stick to his craft. [Boniface Mithika]
