Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's spouse Dorcas has lamented the destruction of drugs and substance abuse in the lives of Kenyan men and boys.
She said that the cycle of substance abuse and crime has ruined the life of many young men and robbed them of their futures.
"Did you know that only three shots of heroin make you an addict? Unfortunately, drug peddlers might give you these three killer doses for free, and you are hooked for life," she said, addressing the youth.
She said that they further chain them to slavery in drugs and they may end up engaging in petty theft and violent crime to sustain their addiction.
"Then, you are arrested and in prison or a juvenile facility," she added.
She said that that is one cycle of how youth are introduced to drugs and our prisons have a huge percentage of males.
"When homes have an absent father, children easily become wayward," she said.
Pastor Dorcas has set off to combat substance abuse crippling young people across the country.
She has made it her mission and that of her office to deal with matters of youth empowerment, especially the boychild, widows and other vulnerable groups.
She said on her Twitter account that Kenyans must work together to rescue the boychild and have a destiny-bound boy child with a vision to better his life.
"I held an informative meeting with various experts from NACADA, NSDCC and State Department for Correctional Services, which shed more light on the unending cycle of destruction that addiction to drugs causes individuals, families and the nation," she said.
