After playing significant roles in various franchises last season, Hollywoodbets Dolphins stars will once again be well represented across the six teams in the 2024 SA20 set to get underway in January.
Last season Dolphins players Ottniel Baartman, SJ Erwee, Marques Ackerman and Jon-Jon Smuts were all part of the victorious Sunrisers Eastern Cape squad, and once again various Dolphins players will be crucial members of the various franchises.
This season thirteen Dolphins will be spread across the competition calling the various cricketing hubs around the country home for the month-long competition starting at the beginning of next year.
Durban’s Super Giants, who call Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium home, will feature five Dolphins players with Keshav Maharaj set to captain the side for the second edition.
Along with Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen will return to the franchise after representing them last season while there are three newcomers to the squad.
Jon-Jon Smuts makes the move from the Sunrisers to DSG while Jason Smith was picked up at the auction along with Bryce Parsons who has been selected as the franchise’s rookie player.
Dolphins wicketkeeper Grant Roelofsen will once again turn out in the blue of MI Cape Town after impressing in the first edition of the SA20 last season while David Miller will captain the Paarl Royals again this campaign.
He will be joined by Andile Phehlukwayo who was a late call up to the Royals squad during the last season’s competition.
Ottniel Baartman, who was selected by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape before the auction last season, will turn out in the orange of the defending champions again and SJ Erwee will also return to Gqeberha this time around.
Dolphins young allrounder Andile Simelane has been given his first call-up to the SA20 and will represent the Sunrisers this season as their rookie player.
The Pretoria Capitals impressed throughout last season’s campaign before losing to the Sunrisers in the final will have the services of two Dolphins again this season.
Eathan Bosch, who won the SA20 Rising Star award after his stellar performances for the Capitals, will turn out for the Pretoria-based outfit again and Dolphins speedster Daryn Dupavillon will also call SuperSport Park home for the duration of the competition.
