UDA Secretary general Cleophas Malala has hit out at Opposition leader Raila Odinga over his remarks that he will call for demos if the talks do not bear their intended aim.
Taking to his Twitter on Thursday, Malala said the threats were not going to force the government to allow Raila into the government systems through the backdoor.
"Mr Raila Odinga, be reminded of the golden maxim that says; "he who comes into equity must come with clean hands and heart," he said.
"Your maandamano threats will not arm-twist government to give in to your conniving habit of sneaking into power through the backdoor."
Speaking during the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting in Machakos county, Raila listed 10 demands that must form part of the bipartisan talks.
They included the opening of IEBC servers and the recommendation of legal, policy, and institutional reforms to strengthen and improve the electoral system.
"Review the appointment and dismissal of IEBC commissioners, including their tenure of office and recommend institutional, policy, legal and constitutional mechanisms, restructuring and reforms of the IEBC," he added.
Further, Raila wants recommendations on measures on how the cost of unga, fuel, electricity and school fees will be lowered.
If the talks prove to be futile, the ODM leader said they will go back to mass protests.
Quoting JF Kennedy, he said civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof.
He noted that they still had the right to demonstrate peacefully.
"We reserve our rights to call for demonstrations should this process not bear fruits," Raila said.
"Should there be no meaningful engagement or response from Kenya Kwanza, we will not hesitate to mobilize Kenyans to demand their rights within the framing of Article 37 of our Constitution."
